The GovToday Greening the FE & HE Sectors Conference and Exhibition will map out the future direction for the Further and Higher Education Sectors in the carbon reduction agenda.

At present, the annual energy costs for the FE & HE sectors alone are around £200 million, resulting in CO2 emissions of around 3 and a half million tonnes per year.

In line with wider carbon reduction policy the Government plans to reduce these emissions by 20%. The following areas have been highlighted as the most viable interventions in terms of scale of impact and cost-effectiveness for the sector:

  1. Environmental management systems;

  2. Building energy and space management;

  3. Building fabric upgrade;

  4. Efficient energy supply;

  5. Renewable energy;

  6. Lights and electrical appliances.

With responsibility for facilities and estates at your institution all of these are within your direct control. This Conference will equip you to be able to deliver the required reductions by presenting detailed information on Government policy updates, the latest industry guidance, best practice case study examples, and information about the technologies available to aid the delivery process.

FULLY FUNDED (NO COST) tickets are currently available for your organisation. Standard ticket prices are £350 for public sector and £999 for private sector.

Free places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Book your place now to benefit from this special offer. Contact GovToday on 0161 238 8891 or email ben.meade@govtoday.co.uk and quote the booking reference [BEP12].

Strategies for Enhancing Employability: The Impact of Postgraduate Education

4th – 5th July 2011

The Nottingham Conference Centre, Nottingham

UKCGE are pleased to announce the first details of this year’s Summer Conference which will take place in Nottingham on the 4th & 5th July.

The Impact Agenda is fast becoming a key influence over Higher Education strategy and policies. Successful postgraduate outcomes are important in their own right and also for their contribution to research outputs and REF. Employability is increasingly recognized as an essential measure of success. The Summer Conference will address PGR and PGT outcomes, particularly in relation to employability. Contributors will include stakeholders from industry, a research charity, representatives from funding bodies as well as University Careers Service and Skills Development specialists. Through the combination of plenary lectures, facilitated workshops and discussion groups, delegates will have an excellent opportunity to explore factors influencing the employability of postgraduates and to network among colleagues. Discussion will focus on the needs of employers, training requirements and the changing nature and purpose of PG Education at Masters and Doctoral levels in the 21st century.
