The National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) Scheme celebrates and recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in higher education. All UK higher education providers, who are full or affiliate members of Advance HE, may nominate up to three members of staff who teach and/or support learning in higher education. Individuals selected to enter the NTFS are called ‘nominees’ as their institution has chosen to put them forward for an award via a ‘nomination’. Each nomination is assessed by a panel of experts, and the fifty winners are awarded their National Teaching Fellowship at a glittering ceremony, hosted by AdvanceHE in the autumn.
NTFS 2026 nominations are open. The deadline for submissions is 12:00 (noon) GMT on Wednesday 11 March 2026.
To support Aspiring NTFs, the Association of National Teaching Fellows offer three online 'Roadshows'. It is a privilege to lead the roadshows each year, where we invite winners from the new NTF cohort to share their stories as to 'how they got theirs' and to offer advice to those writing their own individual applications. The first roadshow this week saw the panel present/share information with over 200 aspiring NTFs. Please do sign up for our next two events, and for those registered, the recording of the session is shared.
The AdvanceHE have all the documentation, videos and 'soundbites' from previous winners on their website here, where the link to roadshow booking can also be located:
NTFS Roadshow 2 - Evidencing excellence: what does it look like?
20 November 2025
13:00 - 14:00
This second webinar covers the three key areas of development for successful NTF applications. We draw upon the expertise of both Advance HE and ANTF committee members and offer thoughts and reflections about how best to frame your application
NTFS Roadshow 3 - Getting over the finish line: what are the final steps?
9 December 2025
12:30 - 13:30
Our final webinar in the series offers thoughts on polishing applications, gaining institutional buy-in, reminds Teaching Excellence Accreditation Lead (TEALs) of their roles and responsibilities, discusses what needs to go with institutional statements and lots more.
Institutional nominations are made by a designated contact at each institution (the TEAL – Teaching Excellence Award Lead) and are submitted via Advance HE's Survey Monkey Apply (SMA) platform. If you are a UK Advance HE member institution (Full or Affiliate member) and have not received details of the nomination process, please contact the Awards team for further information (ntfs@advance-he.ac.uk).
